The Humboldt University of Berlin
The Humboldt University of Berlin is considered to be the oldest one within the other universities of Berlin. It was established in 1810 under the name of the university of Berlin. It was founded by the Prussian reformer, a liberal one, Wilhelm von Humboldt. However, Wilhelm von Humboldt is famous not only for his reformation activities; he is also famous for his outstanding achievements in linguistics. The model of the University presented by Humboldt, had a great influence at all the other European and Western Universities.
In 1828, the university was renamed into Frederick William University, some years later it was called the Universität unter den Linden. In 1949, the university was named in the honor of the founder of it.
This University is a place for the 29 Nobel Prize winners; it is a rather impressing figure, is not it?
The body of the university is organized with the help of the 11 faculties: Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Philosophy I, Faculty of Philosophy II, Faculty of Philosophy III, Faculty of Philosophy IV, Charité – Berlin University Medicine, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences I, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences II, Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, Faculty of Law.
